People like to see cosplays because there full of energy with bright colours, well for some anyway. Though, you might ask “Where can I see the best cosplayers in the world?” Well that’s one of the reasons why The World Cosplay Summit was created!! The World Cosplay Summit is how you can call “The World Cosplay Championships” the best cosplayers from around the world from individual countries head to the birthplace of cosplaying, Japan for the Grand Championships. If you win you get the fame of being known as one the top cosplayers in the world! A chance like this happens once a year.

[link]Countries for the 2008 World Cosplay Summit
In the first World Cosplay Summit there was only 3 countries took part excluding Japan which was France, Germany and Italy. However in this years world Cosplay summit there are a total of 13 countries:
Brazil, China, Germany, Denmark, France, Spain, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Singapore, Thailand, USASo support the cosplayers in your own country and hope for them to win 8D think of it like the Cosplay Olympics we all want our own country to win. Though as you can see UK is not on the list because compared to the other countries we don’t have much world class cosplayers. Those countries can be considered preliminary rounds, and the World Cosplay Summit in Japan is the Grand Final which is all expensives paid, all expensives paid? hell yes!

[link]How to be Contestants
So you might want to know how to be entered in the World Cosplay Summit? Well first participating cosplayers from each country will take part in teams of 2 people. With two Japan teams elected in the Tokyo venue and the Osaka venue participate in championship. So basically as a cosplayers you must attend your own countries Cosplay summit competition. For example there is a “USA Cosplay Summit” if you and your partner gain first place in that competition you become the countries cosplay representatives and get send to the grand championships in Japan. Once you become your countries representatives you bear the weight of all the cosplayers of the country.
The Rules of the World Cosplay Summit
.Each country will be represented by one group to consist of two cosplayers
.The costumes must be from Japanese anime and manga ONLY
.Costumes are to be hand made. Pre-made costumes are not allowed
.Team costumes at the cosplay championships are to be characters from within the same anime or manga
.Participants must be 18 years and older
The judging process
1: Performance (10 points)
Strength of performance, creativity, entertainment value.
2: Costumes (10 points)
Workmanship/quality, and how faithful the costume is to the character in the original work.
3: Loyalty to the original work and composition of the performance (5 points)
How faithful is the performance to the original work’s story and characters

Right for the Osu Cosplayer Parade what it basically is, that hundreds of cosplayers all over japan gather together with the contestants. And they parade down the street it’s the storm of all the best cosplayers in the world marching down the streets together showing off their cosplaying pride.
The actual World Cosplay Summit is the day after. There are over 10,000 spectators for this event. That is larger then most anime conventions around the world. The entire thing is broadcast on live TV across the entire world. The eyes of all the cosplayers in the world are watching your magnificent performance. The World Cosplay Summit also appears in News media like newspapers in all the individual countries. There is no 2nd or 3rd place only the “Grand Champion” and “Runner-Up”. The judges are comprised of cosplay veterans, actresses, actors, voice actors, singers and idols the pride and joy of Japan basically. Even government and foreign ministers like to watch this event. The World Cosplay Summit is one of the most anticipated events in Japan when it comes to anime and manga. They get to see the greatest cosplays in the world. For the cosplayer its the ultimate experience!!
